MOST PROMISING POET -
AMELIA EVA SEEPERSAD (AGE 7)

A STORMY DAY

The rain is pounding on the roof
I wish it would go, just like that….poof!
The clouds outside are dark, black and scary,
No birds singing and being merry.
The trees outside are swaying, swaying; their branches twitching, twitching
But! the sun is shining in mommy’s kitchen.
Bright and warm and cozy; filled
with the smells of brownies and cakes, biscuits and bread
Yummy! my tummy just can’t wait to be fed.
My brother is playing with his trucks and toys,
Shh! don’t make so much noise; Daddy’s dozing, watching TV!
I like it better though when outside is not so breezy.

POET OF MERIT -

MARINA MULLOON (AGE 6)

(Untitled)

The waves are high
In the sky
The boats are trembling
And the sky is dark
The trees are blowing
And under the sea is very hard coral
The piers are broken and
Some of the boats sank
And the sun is gone
And now it is time
To go
To sleep

3RD PLACE WINNER -

YANN QUASH (AGE 10)

A FATHER'S DAY PRAYER

We pray for all fathers
Whether sick, dying, in hospital or not
We pray for fathers who smoke, drink too much alcohol
Or are involved in crime

Help them to understand
What it truly takes to be a father -
Responsibility, caring and discipline

We also pray for the fathers who protect us,
Care for us, and help us
Help them to keep their kind ways
forever and ever

Amen
